GMP Traffic officers had a busy night after two drivers were stopped and reported to court.

A tweet about the first driver was made at 11.20pm on Tuesday night, with motorway police spotting a VW Passat hitting speeds over 115mph between junctions five and six on the M61.

The car was stopped on Wigan Road, where the driver told officers "his car had been in for a service and the garage told him to put his foot down."

In another tweet just after 5am, GMP Traffic said: "Driver of the Audi A1 was sighted by #XT58 on Gaskell st Bolton.

"He didn't even wait to be stopped... he pulled over and said "no point running you locked me up last time".

"Found to be disq from the last time they met and would also provide a breath sample in custody of 52 #fatal5."
