A GRATEFUL patient has written a heart-warming poem dedicated to the doctors and nurses who treated her while she was in hospital.
Staff in the gynaecology department at the Bolton Royal Hospital received a framed poem from discharged patient June Hornby, who had recently stayed on the M1 ward.
Posting the poem to their Facebook page, staff at the hospital showed their thanks to Ms Hornby by saying: “Thank you so much June, for taking the time to thank our teams.
“They’re all so grateful and it will take pride of place on the wall. We wish you all the best and take care.”
The time has come to leave you all,
And I just wanted to say,
How grateful I am for the help,
I received throughout my stay.
Your dedication to your work
Is heartening to see,
And always I’ll remember how,
You’ve taken care of me.
You’ve all been there, kept my chin up,
Pure golden are your souls;
As nurses, every one of you,
More than fulfilled your roles.
You’ve wiped my tears (yes, and the rest!)
Plus so much more, and yet
You always did it with a smile;
Your warmth I won’t forget.
You see us through our darkest days here
Without fuss or complaint,
To give your patients what you can;
Each one of you are saints.
Both day and night no matter what,
If anyone’s in need
Then in a heartbeat, you are there
You are a special breed.
You work your fingers to the bone
And all with us in mind;
More kind and conscientious folks
We’d be hard-pressed to find.
Where would we be without you lot?
I wouldn’t like to guess.
You make this service what it is
God bless the NHS.
So here’s to Catherine, Aline, Sue
And all on Ward M1,
With gratitude and Love from June,
Thanks for a job well done.
