THIS brilliant photograph from our archives is of a shop which represents a bygone era.
Long before the days of the Apple shop, this was the place to go for the latest in office equipment.
Situated on King William Street, Blackburn Typewriters was an Aladdin’s Cave for all your office needs.
The main sign above the shop was even made to look like it had been typed and some of the makes of equipment available in the store are enough to get those of a certain age feeling very nostalgic.
Burroughs adding machines, Howden steel filing cabinets and Twinlock record books - all names which will strike a chord with anyone who worked in an office in the Fifties and Sixties.
Our photograph was taken in 1956.
