STAFF at a town centre dessert shop were given a big shock when a former world champion popped in.

Amir Khan popped into Heavenly Desserts on Tuesday, while the shop was hosting a special charity day.

The Bolton-born boxer took time to speak to staff and take pictures.

Evangelos Elioumis, from Heavenly Desserts, said the visit was completely unexpected.

“Amir was visiting because of a charity event we had on called the Charity Day of Giving,” he explained.

“Fifty per cent of all our takings are going to the Syrian water appeal.

“Amir just showed up on the day, it wasn’t something that was planned but we were pleased to see him.”

It was a busy week for Mr Khan who also unveiled a new hairdo to fans on social media.

The former world champ has taken the bold decision to dye his hair grey and posted a video to Facebook showing his daughter Alayna’s reaction.

The clip shows the youngster crying loudly with the caption, “haha Alayna didn’t recognise daddy”.

It topped off a busy period for the boxing star who spent the early part of the week in the Middle East where he met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The pair discussed boxing initiatives in UAE, welfare and Pakistani politics.
