DETECTIVES have issued a fresh appeal to solve the mystery around a father-of-three's death.

Police are continuing to search for information on 37-year-old Michael Peers, who was believed to have been assaulted before his death at his Brownlow Way flat in the early hours of Sunday July 22, 2018.

The inquest into his death finished today at Bolton Coroners Court, but left the family with unanswered questions.

The man died after losing two litres of blood from a 10cm tear in the tissue connecting his organs.

But despite a forensic pathologist saying his injuries were probably caused by a “kicking or stamping”, the inquest concluded with a coroner unable to confirm who or what killed the former soldier.

Greater Manchester Police have now asked people to come forward with any information they may have on the death.

Det Supt Jamie Daniels said: “We strongly suspect that the answers to key questions around how Michael came about his injuries lie with a close-knit community that is aware of what has happened. I would plead with anyone who has information to think about how it would feel to lose a son, a father or a brother and do the right thing and contact the police.

"My deepest condolences and thoughts remain with Michael’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Despite their devastation and grief, they have conducted themselves with the utmost dignity and bravery since losing Michael in such tragic circumstances.

"Michael’s family and friends deserve answers and I sincerely believe that there is someone in the community who can help them find out what happened."
