BILLED as the sparkliest panto in Bolton, Stagedoor Theatre Productions gave us just that with Aladdin — 30 tubs of glitter on their bright and very impressive set

The story follows the journey of Aladdin as he is tricked by Abanazar into stealing a magic lamp.

Teresa Harper out sparkled them all as the Slave of the ring, guiding us through the boos and cheers of this excellent pantomime. Her singing was just beautiful

Aladdin and Princess Jasmine played by Dennis Boulderstone and Lauren Dejanger were charming as the unlucky in love hero and heroine.

Ben Stainer was suitably cruel as Abanazar who took great delight in being nasty to everyone

Supporting parts of Empress, So Shy and the Genie were played confidently by Elaine Sessions, Sophie White and Anthony Hemmings- Hughes

The comedy duo of PC PO and PO King — Charlotte Parmar and Dave Haycock — were very funny, their slapstick routine was hilarious and certainly kept the audience enthralled.

Widow Twankey played by Philip Morris was suitably flamboyant, both funny and cheeky throughout

The ensemble cast and junior chorus were so good. They were really engaged in the story and their dancing was exceptional.

The stand out part for me was Graham Cohen as Wishey Washey, Aladdin’s rascal of a brother. He had the audience eating out of his hand from his first entrance to his final Goodbye.

Costumes were just beautiful. Colourful, sparkly and complimented the production perfectly.

The highlight of this show is the thought and effort made by the stage and special effects team. They were outstanding. There was a scene in the second act that was quite breath-taking

Congratulations to Writer and Director Chris Anderson and his whole team.
