Emergency services were rushed to the scene of an accident outside a school on Tuesday afternoon.

At around 4pm, police, fire and ambulance personnel were called to Marsh Lane in Farnworth to reports of a crash between a car and a motorbike outside Highfield Primary School.

An eye witness said he saw the crash in which the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was flung from his bike and suffered head injuries.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous said: "There was a girl stuck in one of the cars waiting to be cut out, and the lad who came off the bike had head injuries.

"He seemed ok when the paramedics arrived but you never know with head trauma."

The condition of the people involved in the accident is not known at this time, but an investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the crash.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at 3.55pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Marsh Lane.

"One man was taken to hospital with minor injuries."
