A CHIEF Executive had splashing time as he took part in a fundraising challenge to raise money for the multi-million pound transformation of the Octagon Theatre.

Jon Lord, who leads Bolton at Home, put himself in the stocks, with members of his team paying to throw wet sponges at him.

Apprentices and directors with Bolton at Home raised £1121.40 through hosting a number of events over four weeks.

These included a cake and book sale, pasty party, festive fayre and the sponge throwing.

The transformation of the theatre is the biggest project undertaken since it opened just over 50 years ago.

The building will be more accessible, there will be new seating in the auditorium, a new two-floor cafe/bar.

Other features include more space in which to work with young people as well as the wide community.

Most of the funding has been secured by the theatre also needs to raise money towards the cost.

It is looking to the community to get involved and be part of the new-look theatre.
