THESE two hugely talented youngsters certainly have designs on success.

For they are the winners The Bolton News’ popular Christmas design a card competition.

The competition received scores of entries from talented youngsters from across the borough hoping to see their design turned into a Christmas card to send out to family and friends this festive season.

The winners also received some early presents.

Readers cast their vote for their favourite design.

This year, winners in both categories were from the same school ­— St Thomas’ CE Halliwell.

Ayesha Kachwala won the eight-to-11-category.

She said: “I’m really happy to have won the competition because I have never won anything before.

“My design features a snowman and I got the idea when I was watching television.”

The 10-year-old added:”I would like to make a snowman this Christmas and maybe we might get a white Christmas!”

The four seven category was won by Ibrahim Joli who is the reception class.

His festive offering features a snug homely Christmas scene, complete with a snowman, Christmas tree ­— the perfect setting for a wonderful day.

The four-year-old said: “I made the card at home and really happy to have won.”

As well as giving out their own specially designed Christmas cards, the youngsters received a bag of goodies, including a chocolate Father Christmas by chocolatier Slattery in Whitefield.

The designs were made into Christmas cards by Impression.

Carl Webster from Impression (Bolton) Ltd said: “Impression produce educational displays and signage and work closely with a number of schools throughout Bolton.

“We were very impressed with the creativity shown by all the children in this years competition.”

And the two lucky winners have a voucher to enjoy a free session on the ice-skating rink as part of the winter wonderland in Bolton town centre, which is open throughout the festive season.
