NEW owners have taken over the helm at a popular town centre cafe - and are on the hunt for a brand new name to boot.

The former Cafe Northcote, based on Cathedral Square in Blackburn, has temporarily been renamed ‘The Cafe With No Name’ after a change of leadership at the start of December.

But despite the changes, new bosses are promising customers that the same ‘fantastic food offering’ will be available, with a few new additions for good measure.

A spokesman said: “The cafe has recently had a change of leadership and has joined the Blackburn Cathedral family.

“We haven’t decided on a new name yet, but in order to offer continuity to out loyal customer base and to of course keep our fabulous team of staff working, we are temporarily trading under the moniker of ‘The Cafe With No Name’.

The new management team have kept much of the breakfast and lunch menu the same as before and the usual array of sweet treats and hot drinks are still available.

They have however launched a new two and three-course express lunch menu, which can be viewed online.

The spokesman said: “Our search for a name continues, but watch this space – we’ll be relaunching fully after Christmas with an all-singing, all-dancing new image.

“We are here for all of your catering needs, and in conjunction with the cafe, we offer events and function catering for any occasion, however large or small, and whether within the cathedral’s beautiful function spaces or for any local venues.

“This is a very exciting time for us and we have all sorts of plans to make the cafe your one-stop-shop for all your social gatherings; be it after-work drinks, al fresco snacks in summer, breakfast meet-ups, or huge celebrations.”

It was announced that the Michelin-starred Northcote Hotel and all associated Northcote businesses were bought by Britannia Hospitality earlier this year.

However Craig Bancroft, managing director of Northcote and Craig Jackson, the general manager, have remained running the Northcote businesses with Lisa Goodwin Allen, executive chef.

Many of the same staff have also remained working at The Cafe With No Name.
