A MAJOR development in Westhoughton, years in the making, is all set to go ahead as the final stage has been signed off by the council.

Developer Northstone, part of Peel L&P, was given the green light to build the homes in Roscoe's Farm by the planning committee in October, leaving town hall officers to finalise the conditions and contributions associated with the proposal.

But a decision notice granting permission for 131 houses at the site was finally issued earlier this week.

The estate will consist of a mix of two to three-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced dwellings.

The other 19 residential units were approved by town hall planners in July.
