THE DRIVER of a stolen car led police on a high-speed chase before driving in the wrong direction down St Peters Way.

Traffic officers spotted the white Audi Q3 in Bolton late at night on Christmas Day but when they tried to stop it the driver attempted to escape.

The chase took them through parts of the town centre and Farnworth before the vehicle was taken on to the wrong side of the A666 and driven against traffic.

Despite attempts to flee, the officers were able to track the vehicle to the car park of Moses Gate Country Park, where it appeared to have been dumped. Then, with the help of a police helicopter and search dogs, the police hunted and arrested six people who had tried to get away.

Anyone with more information on this incident should call 101.
