A DRIVER on drugs was caught speeding at over 100mph on the motorway.

Police chased down a driver weaving in and out of traffic at speeds of more than 100mph on the M61.

The driver was heading to Horwich today when traffic officers spotted the car.

The police officer on duty recognised the car, which had escaped and sped off from them on Saturday.

The car was brought in by police and the driver was found to be on drugs.

The driver failed the drug test and was arrested on the spot.

In a tweet, Greater Manchester Traffic Police said: "#ME11 stopped this Golf R Arena approach Horwich after seeing it weave it's way through traffic on the M61 at speeds in excess of 100mph.

"The car had also made off from the same officer on Saturday. Given no chance to this time!

"Driver failed drug test and was arrested @NWmwaypolice."
