FIRE crews rushed out this morning to investigate a possible gas leak in Farnworth.
Firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) were called after a possible risk to the public.
Two gas cylinders close to KFC on Albert Road were allegedly "gassing off" at around 11.30am this morning.
The outdoor cylinders were checked and found to be secure.
A pump attended and crews used gas detectors to ensure there was no risk to the public.
A spokeswoman for GMFRS said: "We went in case there was a toxic substance and causing harm to the public.
"They weren't and there was no risk so we were able to leave."
