CRIMINALS dumped a stolen car before before smashing it up in an industrial estate.
The black Vauxhall Astra was found by police abandoned near to Pikes Lane recreation area in Gilnow Lane, just outside the town centre, yesterday.
Its side and rear windows had been put through, showering glass over the street and inside the vehicle.
The windscreen was also shattered, with around five dent marks visible, and the car's wing mirrors were damaged.
Police described the wrecking of the vehicle as "mindless damage", adding that the car has now been recovered.
They also found that the car had false registration plates on it.
