A BUSY motorway will be closed this weekend to allow a footbridge to be demolished.

The M6 between junction 32 at Broughton Interchange and junction 33 at Galgate will be closed from 9pm this evening, Friday 10, to 5am on Monday morning, January 13, to allow for the work to take place.

No further carriageway closures will be required after the demolition work is complete.

A diversion will be in place using the A6 between junction 1 of the M55 and junction 33 of the M6 at Galgate.

The motorway will re-open as soon as the work is completed – possibly before 5am on Monday morning – but drivers are advised to check traffic conditions before setting out on journeys.
