A MAN has been charged after £22,500 worth of cannabis were found in a house in Breightmet.

The drugs farm, which included more than 30 cannabis plants, was discovered during a police raid on a property in Barchester Avenue on March 1, 2019.

At the time a 41-year-old man was arrested and interviewed in custody by the police.

However he was then released while officers carried out further investigations.

Yesterday, 41-year-old Maceo Williams, of no fixed abode, was charged with production of cannabis.

He will appear at Bolton Magistrates Court on February 4.

Images released by the police from the drugs bust show the plants, which are a class B drug, surrounded by insulated walls and fans in the makeshift cultivation farm.

A post on the GMP Bolton North Facebook page, shared after the raid last year, said: "The Breightmet Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a positive Drugs Warrant on Barchester Avenue, Breightmet on Friday 1st March 2019.

"Over 30 established cannabis plants were seized resulting in a positive arrest and thousands of pounds worth of drugs being kept off the Streets of Bolton/Greater Manchester.
