MOTORISTS are being warned of a raft of roadworks and closures across the town set to start tomorrow.

Back Cheapside in the town centre will be closed until January 17 to allow for water improvement works by United Utilities. Chilham Street will also remain closed at off peak time until January 17 for resurfacing, as will Dunstan Street ­— between Belvoir Street and Hilton Street ­— until January 15; Normanby Street until January 17; Partington Street until February 2; Georgina Street until January 17; and Sackville Street ­— between Bury Road and Back Bury Road ­— until January 15.

Temporary traffic lights will come into operation in Blackburn Road between 7pm and and 10pm today for manhole repairs; Brownlow Road, Douglas Close and Pioneer Street in Horwich, until January 31 for resurfacing; High Street, near to School Street, in Little Lever until February 7 for gas works; Hill Lane, Blackrod, until January 17 for utility services; St Helens Road, off peak, until January 15 for electrical works; and Slackey Brow, Kearsley, until January 31, and Kearsley Road/Fold Road, Kearsley, off peak, between January 14 and 16 for pylon works.

Stop and go boards will be in operation in Salford Road until January 15 for telecoms works.

Further, temporary, off peak traffic lights in operation in Bolton Road in Farnworth will continue until January 17.
