THE latest phase of the flood defence scheme for Radcliffe and Redvales has been given the green light – but problems with a pipeline remain unresolved.
The proposal covering five sites includes building walls on land east of Whitefield Road, west of Hardy's Gate Bridge and north of York Street.
But one section of the scheme, relating to land west of the Metrolink line at Warth Road, faces delays.
The Environment Agency has not resolved concerns about a high pressure gas pipeline serving 40,000 homes being impacted, according to a council report.
The planning committee agreed to approve the other four sections of the scheme at a town hall meeting on Tuesday evening despite objections.
John Kay, who runs Resolution Hydro, said the scheme "dramatically increases" the flood risk to his hydropower development.
