Traffic has been stopped on the M66 due to a crash.
Posting on Twitter, Highways England have stated that traffic has been temporarily stopped on the M66 southbound from junction one for Manchester Road, towards junction two for Bury/Heywood.
A lane closure is also in place on the northbound carriageway.
Traffic officers, maintenance crews and the ambulance service are all en-route.
A spokesperson for Highways England said: "Due to barrier damage caused by the collision on the southbound carriageway, traffic officers have implemented a lane closure on the northbound carriageway for safety."
