PART of Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park ground has been closed to about 1,000 fans for tonight's League Two match against Mansfield amid fears over safety.
The North Stand - the newest second of the ground, completed about five years ago and where many season ticket holders are seated - was sealed off after an inspection by Oldham Council over ineffective fire exits and CCTV.
The club's website said that "refunds will not be offered as, under the terms and conditions of the season ticket, the club can safely offer you an equivalent seat in another area of Boundary Park".
"The reason for moving all season ticket holders from the North Stand is due to current health and safety concerns, which were raised by the Council inspection committee. The Club Shop will remain open at its usual matchday hours tomorrow (11am till 10pm).
Steve Shipman, one of the founders of the fans' pressure group Push the Boundary, said: "The club has said that the stand will be closed for the forseeable future, which is not ideal.
"The may say that it is not under a legal obligation to offer refunds, but what about it's moral obligation?"
