TWO people suffered serious injuries following a collision near Llangollen, police have confirmed.

North Wales Police report that two motorists sustained ‘serious injuries’ after a Honda Civic and a Ford KA collided shortly after 3pm on Tuesday (January 28) on the A5 near Glyndyfrdwy.

Officers report that the driver of the Honda was initially taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital but he has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke.

The female driver of the Ford KA was airlifted from the scene to hospital in Stoke.

Details released by the police confirm that their injuries are ‘serious but not life threatening’.

The road was closed for three and a half hours following the collision, which saw two ambulances, as well as the air ambulance called to the scene.

PC Anja Macleod of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward.

She said: “The black Honda was travelling towards Corwen from Llangollen with the Ford KA travelling in the opposite direction and I am appealing to anybody who saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.”
