CCTV footage has been released of two men police are seeking to speak to after a man was robbed by spanner and screwdriver wielding thugs.

Connor Sherrington had parked in Tarbet Drive, Breightmet, waiting to pick up a friend, when the assault took place.

Shortly before 9.40pm on January 20, two men opened his car door and began attacking the 25-year-old before dragging him out of his white Volkswagen Polo.

The offenders then made off with his car heading towards Bolton town centre — leaving Mr Sherrington with injuries to his legs, arms and face.

Footage released by police shows two men the police are seeking in connection with the attack as well as the car — with the registration MM63HDL — being driven away.

Detectives say they are keen for anyone with any information to come forward.

PC David Keir, of GMP’s Bolton division, said: “This was a sickening incident where an innocent member of the public was threatened and assaulted before having his car stolen from him.

“The footage we have released today shows two men we are keen to speak to in relation to this incident as we continue to establish the facts behind what occurred that evening.

“We urge members of the public to come forward with any information they have regarding this footage or the incident that took place on the evening of Monday January 20, 2020 so that we are able to trace those responsible for this unacceptable act of violence.

“I would also ask anyone that thinks they might have seen the stolen car since this attack to get in touch as soon as possible.”
