A CAR has crashed into the side of a house in Westhoughton after taking police on a chase.
The white Volkswagen Polo was spotted reaching speeds of over 100mph on the M61.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle when it exited the motorway at junction six, but were forced to pursue through Westhoughton.
The car then crashed on Church Street, with the driver and a passenger taking off on foot.
GMP Traffic tweeted a photo of the crashed car at 2.41am on Saturday morning.
They added: “Passenger is detained nearby. Vehicle would be subsequently reported stolen. Car tested for forensics.”
The driver of the vehicle has since been identified and interviewed by police.
An update was posted by the Twitter account at 9.30pm on Saturday, saying they had been reported for dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and failing to stop following a collision.
