A NEW young people's mystery drama filmed in Bolton is set to hit screens next week.

The full series of teen show Get Even will be available on BBC iPlayer from Saturday February 15.

Last summer television crews rolled into town to filmed for the show at locations around the borough including Le Mans Crescent and Bolton School.

Adapted from the book by the same name from American author Gretchen McNeil, the ten part series is one a number of new programmes unveiled by the BBC designed to reflect the realities of the highs and lows of modern life.

The Bolton News:

Get Even follows four schoolgirls, Kitty, Margot, Bree and Olivia, who at face value seem to have nothing in common.

However the girls are united by a common passion to expose injustice at their elite but corrupt private school, Bannerman.

Together they team up and form a secret society known a DGM — as they don't get mad, they get even — and play anonymous pranks and expose bullies.

But when their latest target turns up dead with a DGM card in his hand the girls find themselves in hot water and realise they're not as anonymous as they thought they were.

Soon DGM are framed for a crime they didn't commit and face the only option of discovering who the real murderer is and clear their names.

The Bolton News:

At the same time the girls are encountering many of the challenges faced by teens from love and exams to identity crises and must explore relationships, trust and true friendship — but jeopardy is never far away.

Cheryl Taylor, head of content for BBC Children’s, said: “It is widely acknowledged that 12-15 year olds can be a difficult audience to reach. This new content bridges the small gap between the top end of CBBC and all the amazing content for 16-34s on BBC Three."
