A MAN who tried to run from the police has been arrested.

The 31-year-old was spotted by officers while in a grey Vauxhall Insignia in Cecil Street, Walkden.

But, when they tried to stop him he got out of the vehicle and ran away before being quickly stopped and captured by chasing police.

After checking the vehicle's details, officers found that it was displaying false licence plates and was actually a stolen car.

It had been taken during a burglary on Forton Avenue, Breightmet on Tuesday January 28.

The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary while police continue to investigate.
