NEIGHBOURS in Pine Grove, Westhoughton, had got used to strange goings-on at Number Two in 1987. Every week a group of women would arrive at Edna Irwin’s home and rearrange all the furniture in her living room before trying out their new routines. For the women were all members of the Howfen Belles, reputed to be one of the country’s oldest Morris dance troupes, with ages ranging from 65 to 73.
