LITTER, jobs and opportunities, and events that bring people together are just some of the issues local people have discussed at community events over the last eight months.

Now it’s the turn of Mill Hill residents to share their views on what it’s like to live in Blackburn with Darwen.

Led by the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation, Community Voices events have taken place in different parts of the borough – from Darwen to Little Harwood, Shadsworth to Witton.

Hundreds of residents in different parts of Blackburn and Darwen have already taken part in discussions about how much change there’s been over the last ten years, and how they feel about that.

There have been debates about new communities moving into the borough, and other subjects to do with race, culture and belonging.

On Thursday, February 27 people living in the Mill Hill area – and beyond – are invited to a Community Voices event.

It runs from 6pm to around 9pm, at St Aidan’s Primary School in Norfolk Street, Mill Hill.

The Peace Foundation’s lead facilitator Mike Waite said: “We were very keen to make sure that people in the Mill Hill area had the chance to take part in this programme of Community Voices events.

"People can come along from anywhere in the borough - everyone is welcome to come and share their views and ideas. You can register in advance, if you like – or just turn up on the evening. There will be food and refreshments to begin the session.”

To register, or to find out more, phone 01925 581 231 or 01254 304597, email info@peace-foundation.org.uk or follow and message the charity on Twitter @peacefoundation.

Community Voices events are part of Blackburn with Darwen Council’s social integration programme, Our Community, Our Future.

This is a three-year programme which brings together a wide range of local partners working together to strengthen relationships between people from different backgrounds, to help the borough become a place where diversity is valued and where people’s faith and cultures are understood and respected.
