A FORMER poultry farm site will be turned into 10 new homes.
Planning permission was granted for the development at the Victoria buildings site in Eccleshill.
Residents had raised concerns about increased traffic and unsuitable access, despite the derelict site being described as an eyesore.
But Blackburn with Darwen Council planning and highways committee members heard cash had been secured for much-needed road improvements as part of the conditions of permission.
As part of the scheme, junction improvements will be carried out at Johnson Road
A total of £14,000 in Section 106 contributions towards open space would be given to the parish council.
Ward councillor Julie Slater said: “When the application went in, residents put in objections and I spoke to the planning officer dealing with the case to bring up their concerns.
“People are upset and feel disappointed that the site is being overdeveloped and that it’s not in keeping with the surrounding area."
