A YELLOW warning for rain and snow has been issued by the Met Office.

The warning comes into force at 2am tomorrow until 3pm and covers Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

According to the alert a band of rain will turn to snow.

An alert by the Met Office states: "A brief spell of freezing rain is possible as snow begins to turn to rain, leading to icy stretches.

"Meanwhile, given saturated ground and recent flooding, the combination of snow melt and rain may also bring about some disruption, mainly over parts of northern England."

Drivers have been warned the conditions could lead to some travel disruption, including delays on roads 'stranding some vehicles and passengers'.

Forecasters also warned: "Power cuts may occur and other service such as mobile coverage, may be affected. Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Some rural communities could become cut off."
