A NEW budget store is set to open in the former Crawshaw's butchers shop in Bolton town centre.

Savers is due to open on Friday, February 28, in Newport Street in the two units next to Greenhalgh's and will go up against Heron Foods and Home Bargains on the same row of shops — as well as nearby Poundland on Victoria Square.

Crawshaw's closed down in November 2018 after the firm went into administration.

Around 600 jobs were lost at 50 stores across the country.

The Newport Street store was first set up in July 2015, with owners pledging to bring 18 new jobs to the town centre.

It remained empty last year but now Savers has set up in the former Crawshaw's as well as the vacant unit next door.

Savers specialises is toiletries, cleaning products and homeware.

It promises low prices on well-known brands.
