A NEW special constable will join the policing team in Bolton.
Lily Li-Yong is one of the 17 officers welcomed to Greater Manchester Police on Tuesday evening.
For the last seven years, special constable Li-Yong has worked at Manchester University Foundation NHS Trust.
She has recently been given specialist status as a biochemist, and has joined the force to fulfil her childhood dream and give back to the community.
Special constable Li-Yong will have to give at least four hours a week to tackle crime in the area.
She is hoping that her new role will inspire her three children to follow their dreams and believe in themselves.
Chief Superintendent Stuart Ellison said: “The skills and experience that Special Constables often bring are invaluable.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the recruits and wish them the best of luck on their journeys.”
