A Fire Station watch manager has warned of "impact to services" after they were called out to a bin fire in a woodland area near Rivington.
Crews from Bolton North were called out to the area as the closer Horwich crews were engaged on a fire alarm run.
The fire close to Rivington and Blackrod school was quickly dealt with shortly after the callout at around 8pm last night.
Watch manager Cubbins from Bolton North said: "It does impact our other services, as we were on our way to see someone for urgent safety advice when we got the call.
"We were supposed to see her at 8pm but she had to be kept waiting till 9pm while we dealt with the fire.
"We don't just wait for the bell in the station, we do a lot of community service in-between.
"It's not just just the cost implication, but bin fires can be very toxic with all the plastic that is in it."
