A DRIVER who was found with a stash of drugs and cash has been arrested after trying to flee from police.
Officers on patrol in Trinity Street spotted a grey Volkswagen Passat in the early hours of this morning.
When the driver failed to stop the police pursued the car through Bolton towards Smithills.
The VW was then abandoned in Valletts Lane and its occupants made off and attempted to flee on foot.
Chase was given by the police who managed to catch up with the Passat's driver and arrest him.
On inspection the offender was also found with a "large quantity of cash and class A drugs" which he had attempted to throw into a nearby garden, police said.
