Two roads were closed in Farnworth this morning because of a police incident.

Police were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Milton Crescent.

Ambulance, fire crews and police vehicles were seen on Tennyson Road and Milton Crescent.

A spokesman for GMP said: "At around 8.15am today police were called to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Milton Crescent in Bolton.

"I can't confirm any arrests or injuries yet as the scene is ongoing."

A local resident said: "The police have cordoned off several roads, it looks like something big. They've shut several streets off."

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said this morning: "An air ambulance, two rapid responses vehicles and a road ambulance are still at the scene at the moment."

Diamond Bus North West announced that the 36 and 68 bus services had been diverted via Plodder Lane, Albert Road and Buckley Road.

A post from GMP Bolton North on Twitter read: "#CLOSURE | Tennyson Road/Milton Crescent in #Farnworth is currently closed due to a police incident. Please avoid the area."

The road reopened around 1pm, but police remained at the scene.
