POLICE are no longer treating the death of a woman at a house in Lostock as suspicious.
Officers say that their enquiries have found that the woman, in her 50s, had fallen.
Two men, aged 72 and 73, who were arrested have since been released with no further action being taken.
A murder investigation was launched on Friday night after police were called to Alexandra Road, Lostock just before 10pm to reports that a woman had been seriously injured.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Detective Inspector Alison Witkiewicz, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “Following the woman’s tragic death on Friday, it was important that we took the necessary steps to ensure the incident was investigated thoroughly and properly – as is only right in circumstances such as this one.
“Having received the results of the post-mortem and investigated every forensic and CCTV opportunity available to us, we are now satisfied that her death was non-suspicious and as a result the two men have been released with no further action taken.
“Specially trained officers continue to update the woman’s family and support them through this distressing time. Our thoughts continue to be with them.”
