CHILDREN at an Oxford school have 'written to the world' with soothing advice about the coronavirus outbreak.

With so much uncertainty and panic about the spread of Covid-19, pupils at Rose Hill Primary School were encouraged to write down their thoughts this morning to help others stay calm.

As headteacher Sue Vermes makes preparations today following the school closures announcement last night, she took a moment to share the letters with the Oxford Mail and hopes the children's words will cheer people up.

She said: "Children in school have been feeling anxious like everyone else.

"Their teachers have been talking to them about staying cheerful and coping with isolation.

"They have written to the world with their thoughts on how to stay positive."

Letters were penned by pupils in Year 4 and 5, when children are usually aged between eight and 10.

One wise boy wrote: "Dear children all around the world. We should be worrying about nothink we should be celebrating things. Worrying is going to change nothing it just will make things wors. Remember everything that makes you happy that will make you feel better don't let anything defeat you

"I know people worry sometimes that is normall but don't worry about anything silly. Think about everything that you can do at home like spending time with family, playing video games. You only live once so make that life worth it. Stay strong." (CF)

Another advised: "The coronavirus can't beat you because we are like a brick wall just worry about getting Victory Royals on Fortnite if you play it or going to parties and sleeping round your friends or eating and watching films or videos on Youtube and Netflix and going to bed late and lyins."

Mrs Vermes said her staff had been 'fantastically, cheerfully resilient' despite the uncertain times they were having to plan for.
