PLANS for four town houses on the bank of the river have resurfaced.

The new residential development would be built on land off Crompton Road and west of The Riverbank.

Similar plans were approved by the planning committee in April 2015 but this consent has now lapsed.

The new houses would be constructed with red brickwork and natural sandstone to match neighbouring properties, according to the latest planning application.

The site is currently used as a colony garage site and the remainder of the site is vacant and overgrown.

It said: “The dwellings will be constructed in the traditional, local vernacular architectural style, in keeping with the design, scale, details and materials to match the existing surrounding dwellings.”

There would be two car parking spaces provided for each dwelling.

But highways officers have asked for the plan to be redrawn to avoid

encroachment on the highway.

Tree officers have endorsed planting 11 trees to mitigate for the loss of trees and habitat on the site but asked for further details of the biodiversity benefits of the proposal.

Town hall planners are due to decide the outcome of this application by the end of April.
