The coronavirus outbreak has had an impact on everyone's lives, whether this be supermarket shelves being empty or limiting contact with family and friends.

With the virus and "social distancing" limiting nearly all large gatherings, many Bolton and Bolton related events have unfortunately been affected.

Here is a list of some of our picks that have been unfortunately postponed, with more likely to be affected in the future.

The Bolton Marathon

The first Bolton Marathon in over 30-years was a highly anticipated event this summer.

The landmark event was set to return the town on May 16 and 17 after being resurrected by race director Richard Smith.

The event was postponed on March 19, to be rescheduled for a later date, in order to protect runners, organisers and volunteers.

A date for a rearranged marathon is yet to be announced.

Victoria Halls concerts

All concerts at Victoria Hall have postponed all concerts until June.

This was announced March 17.

Joshua Orme, facilities manager and events coordinator, said: "It is with regret that, due to government recommendations regarding theatres, we have taken the decision to cease all concerts for 12 weeks, beginning March 17. We will re-evaluate the current situation on June 1.

"All ticket monies for concerts occurring before June 1 will be refunded on request."

All shows at The Albert Hall

The closure of this venue was announced by Bolton Council on March 19.

Those with tickets to shows and events will be contacted for refunds or a change in dates over the coming weeks.

The venue is still open for its pre-booked weddings; however, this will be subject to review.

A preliminary date of April 20 has been given for when shows and events may resume.

Jordan Allen - O2 Ritz Manchester

While not an event happening in Bolton, Jordan Allen were set to become the first Bolton based band to headline the iconic O2 Ritz in Manchester city centre for over a decade.

The Westhoughton indie band were due to play at the venue on April 24.

It was set to be the biggest show they had done to date, having recently sold out their comeback gig at Gorilla in October last year.

The band said in a statement: "Although devastating, we are working hard behind the scenes to rearrange the show for later this year for which all tickets bought will still be valid.

"On a positive note we will have plenty of content coming your way in the next few weeks and a very exciting announcement."

Bolton's Car Boot sale

The organisers of the Bolton car boot, which takes place every Sunday, made a delayed announcement on Friday March 20 that all upcoming events had been cancelled.

This is despite initially telling customers and sellers that the event would continue in line with government advice.

They announced via Twitter: "We were hoping to remain open but we have been assessing the situation on a daily basis and feel now, following the government’s advice today, its the right time to close for the safety of our staff and our valued customers."

A date for the reopening of the car boot is yet to be announced.

Ironman Bolton and Food and Drink Festival - On

Decisions are yet to be made regarding the Ironman Bolton event and the huge Food and Drink festival in the town.

The Ironman, due to be held July 12, and the Food and Drink festival due to be held in August have yet to postpone their events, despite other similar events being postponed.

Ironman did however release a statement saying that they were going to be monitoring the situation closely and continue to carry out risk assessments.
