Bolton Council has set up an emergency contact number for extremely vulnerable people who have been told to stay at home for 12 weeks.

Those who have been asked to avoid all face-to-face contact, known as shielding, may have already received a letter from the government with further instructions.

Anyone required to practice shielding can contact the council on 01204 337221 between 8.30-5.30pm Monday to Friday, and from 9-1.30pm on Saturdays.

The team can discuss the most urgent care needs such as food or medicine.

The council’s new “Response Hub” will then work with staff from the local authority, partners, and volunteers to ensure services and items are delivered to those in need.

Social distancing measures are still advised, and will remain in place until further notice.

Staying at least two meters away from others, shopping for necessities as infrequently as possible, and working from home when you can will help to slow the spread of the virus and protect the NHS.
