POLICE are investigating after shots were fired in a street in Bolton on Thursday night.

At around 10.25pm on Thursday, March 26, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to reports shots had been fired in Battenberg Road, just off of Chorley Old Road.

Officers from GMP attended and established that a parked vehicle had been damaged during the incident in the Halliwell area.

The car, a black Vauxhall Corsa which was behind the police cordon, had a visibly smashed front window.

No one was injured in the incident and no arrests have yet been made.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said:"There’s an increased police presence in the area whilst officers continue to investigate.

"If you have any concerns, please speak with those officers who are there to reassure you."

Following the incident, officers from GMP were seen at the scene well into the morning and early afternoon of the next day as officers investigated.

Officers were seen sweeping the road for evidence in the hours after the attack, while forensic officers were also spotted in the road.

The incident came just hours after streets across England were filled with people who were taking part in a nationwide applause in recognition of the work of the NHS.

A nearby resident who has a friend who lives on the street told The Bolton News that her friend heard a car pull up, followed by what seemed to be gunshots.

Anyone with any information on the incident should contact police on 0161 856 5757, quoting log 2733 of 26/03/20.
