POLICE are appealing for witnesses into an ongoing case in which a 26-year-old man was killed after being hit by a car.

Detectives are investigating a disturbance which happened outside a church on St James Street in Farnworth on Monday, March 2 between 8am and 8.30am.

The disturbance led to a collision in which a pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was killed on Tennyson Road after being struck by a dark grey VW Golf car.

At the time, police said enquiries suggested the pedestrian and same car were involved in a disturbance near to the St James Street church.

It took place a few moments before the collision, which happened on Tennyson Road, near to Milton Crescent.

The Golf was then abandoned and the offenders fled before police arrived.
