Carl Fogarty has issued an angry plea to help find a man seen acting suspiciously outside his daughter's new home.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday morning, the former World Superbike champion, who is currently in coronavirus self-isolation at his home in Mellor, posted two CCTV images of a man outside Danielle Fogarty's Barrow home.

In his tweet he said: "Anybody recognise this scumbag trying to break into my daughter's house this morning around 4am?

"In the Whalley/Barrow area."

Mr Fogarty, known to many as Foggy, has been suffering with coronavirus symptoms since early last week, but speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph on Tuesday morning he said he was beginning to feel better, and just hoped the culprit could be caught.

He said: "Luckily, he didn't get into the house or damage anything.

"Danielle shares the house with her boyfriend and he's pretty angry about the situation.

"They only moved into that house about a month or so ago.

"The ironic thing is, everyone is in their homes now, so if you are going to burgle someone's house while all this is going on, then that just shows what kind of person you are - scum of the earth.

"I put the images on social media and the response has been amazing, and I can't thank people enough.

"Everyone is trying to do their bit while this whole coronavirus situation is going on.

"There's a lot of people helping one another out, but then you get the 20 percent, like this person, who make it difficult for others."
