A GROUP of lads in Bolton have started a new viral challenge — nominating pals to 'go blond for Boris' and spread the Prime Minister's 'stay home, stay safe' message.

The Bird Nest Challenge was started by Jordan O’Shaughnessy who donned a suit and tie and put on his best Boris Johnson impression for the video.

The challenge aims to provide some much-needed cheer — but also raise awareness of the Bolton charity Whysup and encourage people to stay at home to support the NHS during the coronavirus crisis.

Liam McBride, co-founder of Whysup, said: “The majority of our work had to stop with the current COVID19 situation.

“However, we made a decision we could do two things, ensure we put out relevant and positive content on our social media platforms and continue to offer support to those that need it via our help page, support line and talking directly via phone and video chat.

“The lads have all been big supporters of Whysup since day one and Mark and I are really grateful of that support but I think they have included us in this campaign as our work might be more important now than ever."

The #BlondforBorisCampaign is also being supported by the Comedy Mindset, a local organisation aimed at supporting those with mental health and wellbeing issues through comedy.

Tonino Passarello, from Comedy Mindset, said: “At the end of all this people are going to need charitable organisations, there are serious issues behind all of this.

“The fallout after this is going to be huge, but we have got good feedback from our online shows so far. It’s giving people something to look forward to after this .

“It’s also getting people talking and interacting locally to new people which hopefully creates new communities for after this.”
