ELEVEN-year-old Joanne Buckley became general manager for the day at Bolton’s Crest Hotel in 1983, her prize in a painting competition run for children of hotel staff. Her mum, Renee was a waitress at the hotel.
Joanne, of Ladybridge, inspected some of the bedrooms and dealt with correspondence with her secretary before discussing the lunch menu with the chef.
She then went into the kitchen to watch as chef Glenn Rangeley began carving.
