Royal Bolton Hospital is starting to welcome back staff, who were planning on retiring, to help in the fight against coronavirus.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust have announced that their Senior Resuscitation Officer Mike Gallagher is going to help volunteer at the hospital despite the fact he was going to retire.
In a Facebook post a spokesman for the trust said: "Our Senior Resuscitation Officer Mike Gallagher had planned on officially retiring to take his pension. Instead Mike has volunteered to work in the hospital's intensive care unit & this week is nursing patients who are seriously ill with Covid-19."
Thousands of retired NHS staff across the country were invited to come out of retirement to help the NHS cope with the demands of the coronavirus and hundreds of doctors and nurses have already returned to hospitals in the past few weeks.
