Bolton Nice had a pleasant surprise when they received a donation from Unison Bolton LG this week.

Unison Bolton LG members bought Easter Eggs from Morrisons to donate to Bolton Nice, and the number was matched by the supermarket, resulting in around 200 eggs being donated.

In a Facebook post a Unison Bolton LG spokesman said: "So this year I thought with Covid-19 hitting it would be harder to collect Easter Eggs for a food bank. But no, Bolton Unison LG members and the branch smashed it out of the park this year."

A spokesman from Bolton Nice said: "We had a surprise visit from our Unison friends. We were told that a lot of Unison members were working from home and we might not be getting a lot of eggs this year.

"Well Unison members have pulled out all the stops again. It's brilliant, a fantastic effort well done to everyone.

"Special thanks for the branch officers and reps for all their hard work. We will be sending the Easter Eggs out to families this week."

A spokesman for Morrisons said: "Morrisons is on a mission to help feed the nation. We have supported lots of local food banks and locals within the community with need our support at this time.

"Our community champion for Bolton Dawes Nicole Allen has been doing a great job in getting to as many care homes, NHS workers and locals that need our help."
