Seven more people have died in East Lancashire hospitals after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Data from NHS England published on Thursday afternoon show the number of Covid-19 related deaths recorded at Blackburn and Burnley hospitals, including Accrington, Pendle and Clitheroe, now stands at 23, up from 16 on Sunday.

Deaths from hospitals within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which includes the Royal Preston Hospital, are now up to 24.

While the total number of people to die from coronavirus-related complications in Blackpool Hospital Trusts is 30.

The death toll for the whole of the North West is now 847, 77 more than Wednesday's total.

The number of people in England who have died from the virus is currently standing at 7,248, an increase of 765 in 24 hours.

The figures for the number of confirmed cases in Lancashire, England and the UK as a whole have yet to be released.
