Three more people have died at Royal Bolton Hospital after contracting coronavirus.

Earlier this afternoon, NHS England confirmed that a total of 7,248 people in England had died with the virus.

Of those, 49 people died at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Today's data, correct as of 5pm on Wednesday, April 8, announced two new deaths from Tuesday, taking the day's total to seven, and one from yesterday.

These numbers may rise as deaths are only added to the statistics after a post mortem confirms the diagnosis.

Figures do not include deaths which may have occurred outside hospitals, such as in care homes.

Of the 765 new deaths, 43 patients had no known underlying health conditions.

All patients were aged between 24 and 103-years-old.

As of 9am yesterday morning, 204 cases of the virus had been confirmed in the borough.

Yesterday, the daily death rate hit a record high, with 11 new deaths confirmed.

On Sunday, 11 people died with the virus.

In the last week, 37 people have died in Bolton after contracting covid-19.
