AN 18-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested and is in custody after police stopped a car in Halliwell yesterday afternoon.

Bolton North Neighbourhood Police team posted about the incident on social media when the Audi car was stopped by two police cars.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood team stopped this vehicle on Brownlow Way, Halliwell on Sunday afternoon.

"Two men ran off from the vehicle but officers managed to detain one of them nearby.

"The vehicle was on false plates and had been stolen during a burglary in Heywood on March 3.

"An 18-year-old male has been arrested and remains in police custody for questioning."
